Five lakes close to DAS SIEBEN
Close to the DAS SIEBEN, you'll find five idyllic (mountain) lakes that invite you to relax. Go for a refreshing swim, or explore the region around the Kufsteinerland, the Wilder Kaiser mountains, the Alpbachtal valley and Kaiserwinkl. The unique lakes impress with their varied characters.
Whether a green paradise, an expansive natural scenery, a clear oasis, a diverse nature experience or a glittering mountain idyll – the five lakes have one thing in common: An excellent water quality that tempts you to go for a refreshing dip on hot summer days. However, the lakes that surround the DAS SIEBEN are also great destinations for a leisurely walk.
Hintersteiner See lake | Distance: approx. 23km
A gem of nature in Scheffau by the Wilder Kaiser
The Hintersteiner See lake is considered to be Tyrol's most beautiful and cleanest natural swimming lake whose surface reflects the imposing mountain tops of the Wilder Kaiser range in sunny weather. The Alpine lake is located in the middle of an idyllic landscape in Scheffau and extends over an area of 56 hectares. It is up to 36 metres deep in some places.
A circular walk (walking time: approx. 1.5h) with moderate changes in elevation leads around the lake, and past all of this natural gem's most beautiful spots. Various lakeside hospitality establishments invite you to linger a while.
Crystal clear and turquoise-blue water
Particularly on summer days, the crystal clear and turquoise-blue water invites you to go for a refreshing dip. The lake's lido is located on the northern bank and offers a comfortable sunbathing lawn with a snack bar.

The Hintersteiner See is also a beautiful starting point for hikers, runners or mountain bikers.

How to get there from the DAS SIEBEN
By car: Follow Kurstrasse and turn right onto Dorfstrasse. Continue on Schönauerstrasse, and at Gasteigerstrasse, turn left onto Loferer Strasse, then follow the B178 to Bocking. Continue on the sections of the road that lead through Blaiken, Seebach and Sonnwies until you reach the village of Scheffau. Follow this route until Hinterstein. By car & shuttle bus for hikers: Follow Kurstrasse and turn right onto Dorfstrasse. Continue on Schönauerstrasse, turn left onto Loferer Strasse, then follow the B178 to Bocking. Continue on the short sections of the road that lead through Blaiken, Seebach and Sonnwies until you reach the village of Scheffau -> park there and take the shuttle bus for hikers to Hintersteiner See.
Thiersee lake | Distance: approx. 18km
At the foot of the Pendling mountain
Thiersee lake is located in the small town of the same name, and is surrounded by the Brandenberg Alps. Nestled in the Tyrolean mountain scenery, this natural lake impresses with a green colours and an excellent water quality. The path along the banks of the Thiersee is 2.2km long and offers varied exercise in an idyllic landscape. The highlight is the view of Kufstein's local mountain, the Pendling.

Besides the expansive sunbathing areas, the small coves and the lake lido make the Thiersee a popular swimming destination.

How to get there from the DAS SIEBEN
By car: Follow Kurstrasse and turn left onto Dorfstrasse. Continue on Häringerstrasse, then turn right at the end of the street onto Kufsteinerstrasse (B171 in Kirchbichl). Follow the B171 until the turning towards Thierseestrasse in Kufstein. Continue to follow this road to Vorderthiersee lake, where you'll find well-signposted parking spaces all around the lake.

Hechtsee lake | Distance: approx. 15 km
in the Kufsteinerland region
The Hechtsee lies in the middle of a stretch of woodland and offers a fantastic natural setting, first-class water quality and impressive views of the surrounding mountains.
With a size of 28 hectares and a depth of 57 metres, Hechtsee lake is the largest swimming lake in the Kufstein area. On the lake's lido, you'll find expansive sunbathing areas and a restaurant with a sunny patio.
Circular walk directly on the banks of the lake
The path around the lake is 2,6 km long and runs along directly on the banks of the lake. It is suitable for exploring the lake on a leisurely walk, although you can also circle it at a more athletic pace whilst Nordic Walking or running, surrounded by trees and reeds.

How to get there from the DAS SIEBEN
By car: Follow Kurstrasse and turn left onto Dorfstrasse. Continue on Häringerstrasse, then turn right at the end of the street onto Kufsteinerstrasse (B171 in Kirchbichl).
Follow this street and then turn right towards Hechtsee lake shortly before the border crossing point at Kiefersfelden (Germany).

Walchsee lake | Distance: approx. 30 km
By the imposing Kaisergebirge mountain range
Walchsee lake is nestled idyllically at the foot of the Kaisergebirge mountain range, and has a brilliant, rich green colour. With a size of 0.98 km² and a depth of 25 metres, it is generally one of Tyrol's warmest swimming lakes in the summer months.

The lake promenade invites you to go for a swim with its generous sunbathing lawns and shallow areas for easy access.

How to get there from the DAS SIEBEN
By car: Follow Kurstrasse and turn left onto Dorfstrasse. Continue on Häringerstrasse, then turn right at the end of the street onto Kufsteinerstrasse (B171 in Kirchbichl). Follow it towards Endach until Eiberg Strasse (B173) and then continue towards the motorway A12/A93. Leave the motorway at exit number 59 – Oberaudorf towards Oberaudorf/Niederaudorf/Erl/Ebbsand follow the B172 towards Walchsee. You'll find well-signposted parking spaces directly by the lake

Berglsteiner See lake | Distance: approx. 20 km

Berglsteiner See lake is surrounded by a woodland and reed landscape, and is considered to be one of Tyrol's most beautifully situated wild swimming lakes. With a size of 2.6 hectares and a water depth of a mere two metres, the lake is a romantic and quiet idyll.
Many beautiful spots that invite you to relax or go for a refreshing dip.
Berglsteiner See is easy to reach on foot – either from the Reintaler See lake car park east (walking time: approx. 30 minutes) or from the Berglsteiner See lake car park (walking time: 15 minutes). There is a hospitality establishment with a patio right by the lake where you can let the enchanting setting work its magic.
How to get there from the DAS SIEBEN
By car: Follow Kurstrasse and turn right onto Dorfstrasse. Continue on Schönauerstrasse, and at Gasteigerstrasse, turn right onto Loferer Strasse, then take the slip road onto the A12 motorway. Leave the motorway at the Kramsach/Alpbach exit, and turn right onto Kramsacher Landstrasse. Continue on the short sections of the road that lead through Ländbühel, Achenrain, Seebühel and Seen Strasse to Oberberg, and drive to the Kramsach peninsula car park.
